Release a Number: Letting Go (But Not Forever)
Sometimes you just need to clean house. If a number is no longer needed, you can release it—removing it from your account (but not permanently… yet).
How to Release a Number
Navigate to Numbers → Your Numbers
Click the Configure button next to the number you want to release
Scroll to the Actions section in the Properties tab
Click “Release phone number”
Note: Releasing a number doesn’t instantly remove it from your account. You have 10 days to reclaim it before it’s permanently released back into the number pool.
Where to View Released Numbers
Head to Numbers in the left-hand navigation
Select “Released Phone Numbers” from the dropdown
Here, you’ll see:
Number
Purchase Date
Release Date
Any associated Tags
A “Configure” button to bring it back to life
Reclaiming a Released Number
Changed your mind? No worries. You can reclaim any number within 10 days of release.
To do so:
Click Configure next to the released number
In the Properties tab:
Review or update Webhook URLs
Reassign the number to the correct Brand and Campaign (if applicable)
Click “Activate Now” to fully restore the number
And just like that—it’s back in action.
TL;DR
Release a number via Configure → Actions → Release phone number
Numbers stay recoverable for 10 days
View them under Numbers → Released Phone Numbers
Click Configure to reclaim and reassign
Hit Activate Now to bring it back online
